Established in 1972 the Institute specializes in areas like understanding Crime and Criminal profile, Human Rights, Environmental protection, Juvenile Delinquency, Forensic Ballistics, Serology, Forensic Photography, Document analysis, DNA finger printing and Toxicology. The Institute has emerged as a premier center of learning with outstanding training facilities and faculty. The Institute has also excelled in training the Senior functionaries of Criminal Justice System in Criminology & Forensic Science. The Institute invites applications from the eligible candidates for the 6th Batch of Master’s Degree programmes in the subjects of Criminology and Forensic Science. These programmes are offered in affiliation with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi.

A Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in Arts or Science with at least 50% marks in aggregate from any recognized University. The candidates should have opted atleast two of the following subjects at the graduation level and should have pursued these subjects for at least two full academic years (at least 4 semesters) Political Science, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Police Administration, Public Administration, Correctional Administration, Forensic Science, Criminology. |

1. B.Sc. Forensic Science with atleast 50% marks in aggregate. OR 2. A Science graduate from any recognized University with atleast 50% marks in aggregate. The candidate must have studied Chemistry (or its allied subject viz. Bio-Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Agricultural Chemistry/ Environmental Chemistry/Life Science or equivalent), for atleast two semesters (One Year) during the course. |
Note: (i) Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examination are also permitted to appear provisionally but they have to produce proof of eligibility at the time of depositing fees.

1. OBC Quota: - 4 seats would be available in the Forensic Science and 5 seats would be available in the Criminology programme for the OBC category students seeking admission.
2. Admission under professional category: There is a quota of 25% of seats in Criminology programme for serving members of Police, Prisons and Judicial Service. Similarly 25% of seats in Forensic Science are reserved for serving personnel of States and Central Forensic Science Laboratories and Police Organization. No entrance test will be held for the candidates seeking admission under professional category. Subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility (Educational qualification) conditions, the admission shall be on merit on the basis of the marks obtained by the student in graduation (For details, see the Information Bulletin).
3. Admission for Foreign Nationals: 15% (Supernumerary) seats are available for Foreign Nationals/Foreign students & Persons of Indian origin in both the programmes. No entrance test will be held for the candidates seeking admission under this category. Subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility conditions, the admission shall be on merit on the basis of the marks obtained by the student in graduation (For details, see the Information Bulletin).
4. Age Limit : For candidates seeking admission under ‘Professional Category’ there is no upper age limit. For candidates of all other categories the age should not exceed 35 years as on 1st August, 2009 (See Information Bulletin).
5. Entrance Test : A combined Entrance test for both Criminology and Forensic Science streams will be held in Delhi only. It is designed to test the candidate for a fair knowledge of English comprehension, General Awareness and quantitative, Analytical and Logical abilities.
6. Sale of Information Bulletin containing Application Forms :- Information Bulletin containing Application Forms for admission to the 6th Batch (Academic Session 2009-2010) can be obtained in person from the Institute from 1st April to 15th May ,2009 against a crossed Bank Draft of Rs.200/- in favour of AO, NICFS payable at Delhi. The Information Bulletin containing Application form can also be obtained by registered post. For this purpose the request should be made to this institute with NON REFUNDABLE Crossed Draft for Rs.250/- in favour of ‘AO, NICFS’, payable at Delhi. The name and postal address of the applicant should clearly be recorded at the back of the Demand Draft. The Institute will dispatch the information bulletin containing application form within three days of receipt of the request. The Institute will not be responsible for delay, loss or damage, if any, during the transit of Information Bulletin.
Last date for receiving the filled in application form in this Institute is 29th May, 2009 till 5.00p.m. Incomplete forms will not be entertained. One must satisfy oneself about the eligibility before submission of Application Form, as no admit card will be issued to ineligible candidate, and no refund will be made towards expenditure incurred in purchase of information bulletin and fees towards entrance examination.
