What are the eligibility criteria for admission in MA (Criminology) and M.Sc. (Forensic Science)

The eligibility criteria for admission in MA (Criminology) and M.Sc. (Forensic Science) is as follows:-

MA (Criminology) –
Graduate from any UGC recognized University securing atleast 50% marks in aggregate at the final examination

M.Sc. (Forensic Science)
A B.Sc. Degree from any recognized University with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.  The candidate must have studied for at least 2 year (4 Semester) of 3 years degree course any 2 subjects out of  (a) Physics (b) Chemistry (c) Biology/Zoology/Genetics/Bio  technology/ Physical Anthropology
OR
B.Sc. (Forensic Science) with minimum 50% marks from any recognized University (Eligible only for specialization in Forensic Document Examination)

With which University the LNJN National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science affiliated for conducting courses in MA (Criminology) and M.Sc. (Forensic Science)

LNJN NICFS is Central Government Institute.  However, the Institute is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi for conferring M.A./M.Sc. degree.

Whether the final year students of Bachelor degree can apply

Provisional Admission may be given subject to successful completion of the Bachelor degree examination obtaining minimum 50% marks.

What is the duration/mode of the Course

The duration of the course is 02 years/04 Semesters.  This is full time course and classes are held Monday to Saturday (1000 hrs to 1700 hrs.)

What is the procedure of admission

Admissions to MA (Criminology) and M.Sc. (Forensic Science) are made through Entrance Exam conduct by GGS IP University in the month of April/May every year.  On-line as well as Off-line applications were invited by GGS IP University last year.  The Entrance Exam is followed by Counseling at GGIP University. There is no regional reservation for the students.  Detailed information can be obtained in the GGS IP University website www.ipu.ac.in

What is the fee structure of the Course

Tuition Fee
MA (Criminology)–1st  Year–Rs 22,500/-
                              2nd Year-  Rs 22,500/-

M.Sc. (Forn. Sc.) - 1st   Year-  Rs 27,500/-
                              2nd Year- Rs 27,500/-

(Additionally, Rs. 3000/- is payable as Security Deposit from First Year students).
Exam Fee, Hostel Fee and Mess Charges (for students living in Hostel) are extra (as applicable)

Specialized papers-
M.Sc. (Forensic Science) in 2nd Semester:-

  1. Forensic Ballistics
  2. Forensic Documents Examination
  3. Forensic Chemistry & Toxicology
  4. Forensic Biology, Serology and DNA Profiling
Students can opt any of the above specializations depending upon their Academic background and aptitude.

What are the Scope/Job Opportunities in MA (Criminology) and M.Sc. (Forensic Science)

Successful students either persue Ph.D. research in the respective field or get jobs in govt. departments, NGOs, Banks, News Agencies, Government or Private Laboratories.  The Institute has placement cell managed by the students themselves under the supervision of an Institute faculty.

Whether Institute have any Hostel Facility

The Institute has limited seats in the  Hostel for boys and girls with Mess facility for the students.  Rooms are allotted on the basis of merit in their past examinations and on regional consideration.  Rooms are given on double sharing basis.

Whether the Entrance Exam is on All India basis

Yes.  The Examination centres are to be decided by GGS IP University.  One has to check from GGS IP University, Delhi.
